We fulfill this first by ensuring that the source of our driftwood is from beach cleanup campaigns in Israel. Secondly, we utilize a highly effective natural agent, saltwater, to treat the wood rather than harmful chemicals.

Mediterranean Driftwood Furniture creations begins with cleanup campaigns along the littered beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. The campaigns are coordinated by Assif-Strategies and the Israel Ministry of Environment. Volunteers collect wood of all sizes and shapes as well as other wastes littering the beach, such as fish nets, buoys, floats, broken glass and plastic bottles.

The resulting eclectic collection of wood sculpted by the sea ensures that each piece of furniture is custom made and unique. The peculiarities of the wood demand that we design each piece to conform to its natural master-plan, yielding sturdy and original arrangements. The effort is certainly worthwhile!

Driftwood pieces must comply with biological and chemical criteria which guarantee their origin and durability. Minimum immersion time in the sea is verified by Assif-Strategies experts, who then certify the wood before it is transformed to our artists and carpenters.
